SpaceX's Polaris Dawn launch, organized by billionaire entrepreneur Jared Isaacman, was postponed due to a ground-side helium leak on the Quick Disconnect umbilical. The mission, set to make history with the first-ever commercial spacewalk by private citizens, aims to reach an altitude of 870 miles, higher than any crewed mission in over half a century. The crew will endure high-energy charged particles in the Van Allen radiation belt and conduct experiments to advance understanding of human health during long-duration spaceflights. The mission will conclude with a splashdown off the coast of Florida after six days in space.

The quartet underwent extensive training for the landmark mission, which is the first of three under the Polaris program, a collaboration between Isaacman and SpaceX. The crew will don state-of-the-art EVA spacesuits and conduct laser-based satellite communication tests between the spacecraft and SpaceX's Starlink constellation. Notably, the second Polaris mission will also utilize a Dragon capsule, while the third is slated to be the maiden crewed flight of Starship, SpaceX's next-generation rocket.
