UCCA Center for Contemporary Art (UCCA) has expanded its presence by launching UCCA Clay, its fourth museum space in Yixing, Jiangsu Province. The city of Yixing is renowned for its ceramics production and is located two hours west of Shanghai. This new addition joins UCCA's other spaces in Beijing, Beidaihe, and Shanghai.

Designed by the renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma, UCCA Clay spans 2,400 square meters over two stories and is situated in Yixing’s Creative & Cultural Ceramic Avenue. Kuma, known for his focus on 'architecture for the five senses', utilized ceramic panels as the exterior of the building, marking his first project to prominently feature clay as a primary material.

UCCA Clay will host three exhibitions annually, curated by the UCCA team, with a focus on Chinese and international artists who work with ceramics. The museum is set to open its doors to the public in October, offering a platform to showcase the diverse and innovative use of the ceramic medium in contemporary art.
