SpaceX recently ended a nearly two-week lull in launches from the Space Coast with the successful liftoff of the SES 24 mission on June 20. Prior to this, bad weather and technical issues led to multiple launch scrubs, making it the longest run between launches since late 2022. The SES 24 mission, which saw the Falcon 9 rocket carrying the ASTRA 1P satellite for Luxembourg-based communications company SES, marked the 12th dedicated satellite mission SpaceX has flown for SES. Notably, the first-stage booster for this flight made its ninth trip to space and successfully landed on the droneship Just Read the Instructions.

This launch was the 45th of the year from either Cape Canaveral or neighboring Kennedy Space Center, with all but three coming from SpaceX. Looking ahead, SpaceX's next launch from Kennedy Space Center could be the first Falcon Heavy launch of the year, targeting a liftoff on June 25. The payload for this upcoming launch is the GOES-U satellite for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, which will take over the duties of monitoring the Atlantic basin for dangerous weather.

Overall, SpaceX has demonstrated a high success rate with its Falcon 9 rocket, achieving 346 successful launches out of 347 since its debut in 2010, with a lone in-flight launch failure in 2015. Additionally, the company has flown its Falcon Heavy nine times since 2018 and attempted four Starship and Super Heavy launches since 2023, reaching orbit twice.
