Boeing's first astronaut flight was called off at the last minute due to computer trouble, marking the latest setback in a series of delays over the years. The launch attempt for the company's Starliner capsule was automatically halted at 3 minutes and 50 seconds by the computer system that controls the final minutes before liftoff. Technicians rushed to the pad to assist astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams out of the capsule atop the fully fueled Atlas V rocket at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. The CEO for the rocket maker, United Launch Alliance, mentioned that one of the three redundant computers located near the rocket at the pad was sluggish, which led to the launch being called off.

The next launch attempt could be as early as Wednesday, depending on what needs to be fixed. If it doesn't blast off this coming week, then that would be it until mid-June. This delay is part of a series of setbacks for Boeing, whose first test flight with no one on board in 2019 was plagued by severe software issues and never made it to the space station. A redo in 2022 faced parachute problems and a small helium leak in the capsule's propulsion system last month, adding to the ongoing challenges.

Despite the disappointment, NASA astronaut Mike Fincke emphasized that delays are part of spaceflight and expressed optimism for a successful future launch.
