NASA's Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory temporarily suspended science operations on March 15, as one of its three gyroscopes experienced degrading performance, affecting the observatory's ability to make observations. Despite this setback, the rest of the spacecraft remains in good health. While Swift is designed to function with only two gyros if necessary, a software update is needed to enable this configuration. The team is currently working on the flight software update to allow the spacecraft to continue science operations using its remaining gyros and aims to return Swift to science observations as soon as possible. Launched in 2004, Swift has been observing the high-energy universe for nearly 20 years.
